Fixing VMWware networking

Saturday, August 18, 2018

After Fedora 28 system update for my "Boot Camp" Linux partition, I once again lost networking. Once again I had a broken /etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-ens160. This time, the fix was to add NM_CONTROLLED=no, which took me a couple of hours to figure out.

Here is the output file:

DEVICE=ens160

TYPE=Ethernet HWADDR=00:0c:29:8d:1b:82 BOOTPROTO=dhcp DEFROUTE=yes PEERDNS=yes PERROUTES=yes IPV4_FAILURE_FATAL=no IPV6INIT=yes IPV6_AUTOCONF=yes IPV6_DEFROUTE=yes IPV6_PEERDNS=yes IPV6_PEERROUTES=yes IPV6_FAILURE_FATAL=no IPV6_ADDR_GEN_MODE=stable-privacy NAME=ens160 UUID=888463b3-7b02-44f7-ba91-a61e42f85884 ONBOOT=yes AUTOCONNECT_PRIORITY=999 NM_CONTROLLED=no
