Repairing ZFS after Fedora upgrade

Thursday, May 9, 2019

A few repairs on Turbo after a Fedora upgrade:

  • Removed nomodeset from kernel command line. Why it was there, not sure (probably from VM pass-through experiments). Without it, no graphics. NVIDIA driver install not smart enough to update that. Upgraded driver quite a bit, NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-418.56.run from NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-381.22.run.
  • ZFS again complains about /dev/zfs not being there. So far, I have not found a faster way to repair it than uninstall / reinstall, but ZFS has bogus dependencies, so reinstall looks like:
    % dnf install -y zfs-dkms cockpit-machines gnome-boxes libvirt libvirt-daemon-kvm dkms elfutils-libelf-devel libnvpair1 libuutil1 libvirt-daemon-driver-storage libvirt-daemon-driver-storage-zfs libvirt-gconfig libvirt-gobject libzfs2 libzpool2 lm_sensors-libs perl perl-Encode-devel qemu-kvm spl spl-dkms sysstat zfs
