Mac reboot
I still got the "too many open files" message just trying to compile spicy. Except this time I had shutdown mail. Tried various things, but I could not clearly identify which process was the root cause of the problem... Even less so knowing that trying to run lsof gives me the "too many open files" message too.
Ended up rebooting the Mac. Have to reconstruct my whole work environment again. I wish that instead of auto-saving bad states, macOS gave me the option to save a good one to restore at reboot.
Connecting to Turbo
After that, connecting to Turbo was failing. I finally figured out that the problem was not Turbo itself (easily seen by connecting from another machine), but rather that the VPN had decided to switch back to "full DNS mode", i.e. ignore my local DNS. Apparently, every update to the DNS will cause that problem.
Testing dedicated NVIDIA card
When connecting with macOS Spice, I can only move the cursor on the screen to within the boundaries of the Spice that was opened initially. So basically only the top-left quarter of the screen.
Freedesktop
I finally received my account on Freedesktop!
